We have to have a reason. All of us know that the truth is, the team is going nowhere & several fans have posted here that they don't expect our women to win a single game all season. Many other fans may think the same thing. Can we be honest & say, "The program is in shambles & it really serves no purpose to continue with the season." UVA has invested a fortune in this program. We're paying more than half-a-million dollars in coaches' salaries; VAF has squeezed donors for scholarship to pay full rides for 13 players, at the huge out-of-state tuition rate; there's another several hundred thousand dollars more in support staff & recruiting trip expenses. What are we getting for all that money? And then we spend all that money & "pause"....not play any games? Under no scenario are we going to disband women's basketball, so that money is going to continue to be raised and spent. Nobody's owning up to anything right, answering questions, or providing any kind of roadmap for the future. If there's going to be a "pause," somebody over there needs to be prepared to say what comes next.
