You want to stay in Yosemite Valley

I visited Yosemite twice in 2019. The first time we went, we stayed at Tenaya Lodge, just outside the Park. Although it is convenient to Mariposa Grove, the commute to the Valley takes 45 minutes, and then you have to deal with traffic and parking. Tenaya is a great resort (we stayed in the cabins) but all of the vehicle time isn't worth it.

I went back later in the summer to hike the Half Dome and stayed in the Curry Village Campground. Being able to park your car and not need it until you leave is really nice. The bus/trolley system works well enough. The vibe at night in the bars/restaurants is great once the crowds die down. We tried to book the Ahwahnee and the YV Lodge but the nicer places are harder to book. Maybe the pandemic has changed that.
