Buddy of mine was on the ski patrol at Wintergreen
He told me the injury rate for snowboarders is 3x that of skiers. Wrists, elbows and shoulders get blown out. Skiers mostly knees.
You mentioned your head. I hope you have a helmet. With both feet strapped in, you are basically a human lawn dart. My buddy and I were riding up a lift and we watched a dad snowboard down to his kids. He was a decent snowboarder. Was not wearing a helmet. He slowed and stopped with his back down the slope, lost his balance and whipped backwards. His head hit the icy slope. It sounded like someone dropped a cantaloupe from a third story window. Then we saw the snow begin to turn red. Buddy radioed it in and they got to him asap. Helicoptered him to UVA.
