Any program trying to build something should use defense as its identity


This seems obvious to me, especially since there's such a big gap between the top programs and everyone else in wbb. Recruit athletes. There's only so many elite athletes who are also really good at basketball.

Of course try to recruit the best all around players you can, but also go after the very best athletes who can defend and rebound. I don't understand why so many teams go after so many big, tall and slow players. Someone a few inches shorter who can run, jump and is stronger pound for pound seems like the ideal player to fill out the roster with even if their career scoring average is less than 4 points a game. Maybe teams do this, I don't watch as much wbb as I used to.

As far as the style Tina wants to play, good luck. It's no different than her scheduling philosophy IMO. Just another thing she's learning on the job that she'll eventually figure out and more successfully implement somewhere else if she ends up deciding she really wants to be a college wbb coach after she's done here.
