When I made my only visit to Doak-C years ago,
the only way to move around the stadium that I could find was in the crowded, almost claustrophobic areas underneath the grandstands. I really like the openness of Scott Stadium. Unlike DoaK-C, where I was unable to find any place to view the stadium and field except by going to my designated seat, Scott has a number of easily accessible viewpoints from which an attendee can see different perspectives of both the field and the stadium. I like being able to walk around the stadium during the pre-game warm-ups to watch both teams going through their routines and to just soak in the atmosphere. This helps me to get in the mood for the game. That was not possible at Doak-C. Walking around beneath their stadium to get to the tunnel up to my section was as stimulating as being in a subway station at rush hour. Then, once I was out in the open, the only place I could go was directly to my nearby seat. I felt confined - because I WAS confined. This, after having looked forward to experiencing the big-time atmosphere of a football power's stadium, was a disappointment.
I doubt FSU will change that aspect of their stadium. They can have theirs; I'll take Scott over Doak-C anytime. We have a really nice stadium. I cannot think of any opponent's stadium that I have been in that I liked as much as I like Scott. The closest I can think of is Cardinal Stadium in Louisville - but I'll take Scott over that one, too. Of course, 3 Rivers in Pittsburgh is nice, but that's an NFL stadium, NOT a university's OWN stadium. WOOPS! Baked Beans/Catsup/&AllThatStuff Stadium at the confluence of the Monongahelah (sp?) and Allegheney forming the Ohio River. Field - Condiments Field. Still an historic location at the rivers, but the stadium named for the river junction is also history.
