The Kochs ARE libertarian/classical liberal in the purest sense...
I used to work for them years ago at a non-profit Charles was Chairman of the Board of, and he and David were the largest donors.
They tend to support Republicans out of self-interest and because Libertarians rarely are a factor in any races on the national level, and they don't care a lot about the local level. But they are liberal on social issues and fiscally conservative -- i.e., libertarian/classical liberal.
Cato was originally the Charles Koch Foundation, which has been obscured in history. Cato is very libertarian, though the commenters on their Facebook page are overwhelmingly authoritarian conservatives.
Agree w/ you totally on funding the party that is suppressing voter registration and turnout, and even whether certain voters' votes should be counted. Not sure why they are not more active with that. It appears that they have gotten so far in bed with the Republican Party that they can't get out, even though most current Republicans don't stand for the same principles they do, except for lower taxes and less regulation (of the industries in which they operate).
