I get the frustration but the transfer portal is a good thing

Like anything new there is always a temporary market over reaction and we have seen that. Compound it with the COVID year and you create a catalyzed marketplace that with kids coming off an emotional season (many not seeing family for months on end) and an easy out. I think one time transfers no consequences is fantastic as it puts more pressure on coaches to properly build rosters as opposed to just recruiting to the number of stars.

Next 2-3 years will be bad. Coaches recruiting without properly seeing kids in person. Kids committing without visiting. Relationships are not being built properly across the nation.

As NLI rights become available and recruiting returns to normal, I see student athletes outside of football and men's basketball being more incentivized to stay. Yes there will be top end studs who transfer (though schools are going to be in a bind...if I am a big donor donating 15k to Louisville for instance why not just tell Jeff Walz I will pay 15k for marketing rights to the best 2 players on the transfer market) but more value will occur as players build brands in local areas.
