My condolences. An English colleague of mine about 15 years ago was a Spurs

fan & he spoke to me at length about the many frustrations of being a Spurs fan. It reminded me a lot about being a Hoos fan, so I was quite sympathetic to him.

Interestingly, in 2019 the Spurs almost pulled off a miracle (less than 2 months after the Hoos' miracle) in the CL. Their comeback win against Ajax in the semis was one for the ages. The Spurs' miraculous last-second goal was similar in many ways to UVA's last-second shot in regulation against Purdue.

Unfortunately for the Spurs, they came crashing back to reality after only 106 seconds in the finals, when Liverpool was awarded a PK and scored. Liverpool, which had beaten Barca 4-0 in the 2nd leg of the semis to overcome a 0-3 deficit after the 1st leg, ended up being that season's team of destiny.

I also remember that Chelsea's improbable win at Bayern Munich in the 2012 CL finals knocked the Spurs out of the 2013 CL. The Spurs finished 4th in the 2012 EPL season, but Chelsea, which finished 6th, snatched the 4th & final spot reserved for the EPL teams in the 2013 CL by winning the 2012 CL title.
