Anything can happen in rowing ...

Anything can happen in rowing. Teams have good days and bad days. With that said, Texas looks very strong this year and UW is pretty much always good. If it is between Texas and UW, I'd put my money on UW. It is one of "the" sports for women at UW. Hard to tell about Stanford. I think it is probably UVa and Stanford for third.

Over the years, I have wondered about regatta day for UVa. They usually underachieve. Rowing is one of those sports that requires everyone in the boat to be on - not only on physically but willing to row past the pain and the fatigue and be good doing so. In other words you have to be very strong mentally and that is not something you can predict. All the crews are strong. Most are talented. But only a few put the physical with the mental. UVa has been near the top for about two decades with excellent rowers but they just haven't been able to consistently put it together to win the big regatta. It's not about winning the race but beating the next crew in front of you. If you do that you'll have a good result.
