It is true at all levels of tennis. Best male players are rarely American

On the ATP tour there are no American men in the top 30 and only a few in the top 50. Isner dropped out of the top 30 a couple of weeks ago. I think there are only 2 or 3 former American college players in the top 100. If you want to win in college tennis you have to recruit foreign players and lots of them
A much debated topic in the world of men's tennis is where did the Americans go? Over the long history of tennis American men were always among the best. Sadly there do not seem to be any young Americans ready to take over that winning legacy. The last American man to win a major/grand slam was Andy Roddick about 20 years ago and there is almost no chance that any American man will win one in the foreseeable future.

As a long time player and fan of tennis it is a real shame.
