Ream was terrible, for sure, but...

I fault Berhalter for taking 2/3 of the game to make any kind of adjustment. Our 3 man back line were all slow and constantly being beaten. There was precious little midfield support. It is no coincidence that the game turned in our favor when he inserted Adams and changed formations. My assessments:

Ream: my heart sank when I saw him on the roster. He's a disaster for club and now country. He should never again suit up for the US.

McKenzie: pretty much a disaster, but had moments of good play. I think the giveaway at the beginning of the game killed his confidence. He's young and deserves more chances. The handball at the end was just stupid bad luck - can't fault him for that.

Brooks: I really like Brooks, until I don’t. He's not fast enough when isolated 1 on 1, but he is a good sweeper, a skilled passer, and a strong presence. Needs to avoid stupid yellows for jawing at the ref. Also let Herrera give Horvath and chestful of cleats by failing to body him off. That was inecusable (even though Horvath was slow off his line).

Dest: a bad game, but he is a wing back in a 4 man back line. Berhalter did nit out him in a position to succeed. Still, nit a good showing.

Yedlin: I actually thought he played pretty well. Got beat a few times, but he showed better field awareness than he generally soes for his club.

Acosta: lost and ineffectual.

Weah: loved his energy and verve. Brought the speed we needed on the wing and freed Pulisic to maneuver inside. A fierce competitor.
