There is little value to the combine anymore

Once upon a time, it was an efficient way for all the teams to get data on all these college kids that maybe their scouts watched a few games on during the season. You were not going to fly a potential draft pick in for a private workout unless they were a lottery pick.

Nowadays, there is so much tape, video and analytics of these players, and the money is so big that you WANT private workouts with your targets and don't mind paying for them. The combine is more for the second round where all your identified targets could be off the board already so you need to understand the entire field a bit better, and deciding on your potential camp invites than for evaluating the first round picks now.
