As was Beekmans complete inability to shoot from the perimeter

At least Clark would attempt and then make enough of his 3-pt shots to keep defenders semi-honest. Beekman spent entire games being ignored on the perimeter and lacked the confidence and ability to punish teams for doing so. This then caused him to become ultra-passive in the half-court offense (his defender standing so far away from him took away a lot of driving opportunities).

Beekman played 30 mpg, was rarely guarded on the perimeter, and attempted only 1.5 3PA. He only attempted 4 in a game once all season (against Syracuse in the ACCT).

Clark attempted 2.5 3PA, which is not a huge number but is more in line with what the offense needs from the position, and in seven different games attempted 4 or more 3PA to punish teams that were trying to ignore him (most notably GT where he went 4-8). Plus he retained more ability to drive the paint because his defenders tended to be more honest in their closeouts.

So yes, Clark had many more failed drives than Beekman. He also had more successful drives than Beekman, and more generally could get the offense started when it was at a standstill.

Beekman OTOH was much better at creating and exploiting transition opportunities for the team, and was better cutting to the rim off the ball than Clark. They each had strengths, but Clarks' were more central to the PG position in our half-court offense.
