I guess it depends on the outcome. If he performs much better than the

typical non scholarship kicker then clearly was a great decision. The value of a great FG kicker can't be overstated because it gives an offense so many options and shortens the field to score. if however, the FG doesn't become special, it is probably a misused scholarship since even elite programs often use walkon FG kickers. Since we land so few elite recruits, I think it is worth the risk but time will tell. JMO
