I use Carbonite as well


You can get a license for multiple computers in your household, so I have installed it on both the wife's machine as well as mine. It does nightly backups of all the folders that you designate, and Carbonite keeps file revisions, so you can go back in time (at least for a while) to find a specific file version if necessary.

Formerly, I had an external drive attached to my computer, and was manually backing things up. But, if you forget to do it for a while, or if your house burns down, you're up S creek. That's why I prefer a cloud service like Carbonite, which is more of a set-it and forget-it. Worth the price, in my opinion.
