Other than the Williams' sisters pretty much the same for our Women.

Sloane Stephens did win the US Open a couple of years ago, But I think you have to go back to Chris Evert to find any multiple slam winners, except for the Williams sisters.

As to the men, I think team sports
at the youth level is where the action is. Even in soccer with our huge youth participation we have not excelled at the international level. Also there is a lot more money to be made in the main pro sports. To a much lesser extent the lack of male full college tennis scholarships and almost no college tennis on TV is a detriment compared to FB or basketball.

I have always played tennis and my two kids did play i#1 or 2 in HS, but my grand children have never been very interested, even though I tried to play with them. Unless a parent is willing to play for hours with their kids, it is very hard to find other kids who want to play after school. I suppose tennis clubs help with that, At my small tennis club in GSO I never see 2 kids just playing
except in clinics.

I think the head to head nature of singles tennis where somebody has to lose and you (not your team) are the only one to blame is tough for many kids to deal with.

I have always thought and still do that an American tennis phenom was bound to show up and start winning slams. Maybe Jenson Brooksby will be that guy.
