Somewhat disappointing win against NC State

The games started well, with an early goal by Zandi, her first of the year. Couldn't be more happy for her; she's been playing well and made a great move to score what was really an unassisted goal form outside of the box. Her first. UVA continued to press the action, but a defensive mistake led to a tying goal on a great move and shot by NC State's Antoine.

Note that Ivory did not play, and I didn't hear any reason why, but did see her with her knee in a brace on the sideline. I hope she isn't injured! It's not clear at all that she could have stopped Antoine's shot, except perhaps by her greater length over White.

So the half ended with the teams tied: 1-1.

After the great UVA-Duke game we seemed drained of energy, particularly in the second half, where an energized NC State carried much of the action. There were too many turnovers, we weren't getting to the 50:50 balls, we gave them too many corners (7 vs 5 for UVA). Everyone seemed tired.

I was resigned to an overtime game with a few minutes remaining after Godfrey mishit a corner that when behind the line. But we played with more passion in the final minutes of the game. Zani, who had a good game, took a shot with a minute remaining that was saved by the keeper, but which led to the a great corner by Theoret to the far post, which Ordonez headed into the crossbar. It then bounced on the goalline, and then was headed in by Staude.

NC State is a better team than their record indicates, but we need to up our game against NC.

Finally, I keep hearing the announcers state that we returned 95% of our scoring from last year. But with Jarrett's injury we lost for the season the forward who was our leading point person at the time.
