He does like to play up the blue collar roots. Evidently, Lynbrook was named for Brookyn. At the Navy coaches' clinic, Ritchie Meade liked to talk about the games between his hs in Levittown--maybe MacArthur--and Garden City, the parents of his school heavily NYPD and FDNY while the Garden City parents were more white collar/professional. Never having been to the Island, I pictured the rivalry as something like Ruxton/Roland Park versus eastern Baltimore County in my Baltimore perspective.
Correct me if I am wrong, but it has always seemed to me that while in Baltimore lax has flourished in private schools and the public schools whose demographics mirror the privates, on the Island there were strong programs in a variety of areas, not just the upper middle class enclaves.
Anyway, Meade's description made me want to see on of those games. He said they drew about 3000 well-lubricated fans.
