Back in the day, the stereotype was that LI lacrosse was more physical ...

because he teams were coached by the football coaches and the football players were trying to score points with them by playing lacrosse as well. The stick skills were not as good and the ball was on the ground a lot more leading to people getting knocked down trying to get the loose ball. The stereotype about B'more was that they were mostly soccer players, therefore less likely to be physical than football players. Plus, their stick skills were much better because they started playing in elementary school and the ball wasn't on the ground as often, leading to less chances to be physical.

I always joked that B'more players on a loose ball would would whack their opponent's stick with the idea "I'll break your favorite stick", while LI players would go for the body with the idea "I'll break your favorite rib."
