I think we have to weigh the equities here. 2023s start as 2024 1st years.


Look who we have on the field that season. Attack is still anchored by Shelly. Cormier will still be on the field. A couple of the HS 2021s who just started are ridiculously talented. They will be third years, likely as returning starters. Midfield is ridiculously loaded. Goalie is ridiculously loaded.

Again, I might be all wrong here - that would not be novel. But I just don’t see a great need to load up excitement or blow a GIA scholarship budget for the 2023 class.

Duke will always find a way to keep yesteryear’s top 10 or top 20 rated recruits happy enough as role players or fill in case of injury. Don’t know how that works really, but it sure seems to down there. Let’s also be reminded that the Duke program hasn’t played up to “great on paper” for more than half a decade now.

I just can’t get moved on the recruiting fanboy stuff anymore. Like sore feet, truly a sign of my age.
