I was a bit worried in the first half, with the score 0-0 after we dominated the play.
But you need to serve the ball properly to runners in the box, which we were not doing well, and you need runners in the box.
Second half was much better, and we actually scored a non-set-piece goal. It has been a while. I was most happy for Hopkins scoring two goals. She has actually been playing very well all season and doing important things that don't show up on the score card. Also great to see Godfrey score a goal, a very nice one. She had her usual assist. And finally Sieraki and McCormack got in on the fun.
Fun game for the team, with the whole bench getting playing time. Tough week for an overmatched Syracuse team playing UVA and FSU.
Finally, a word about Boston College. I thought they played us fairly well and look good, particularly in the first half. Our corners came on strong (as they did today as well) and they didn't defend them as well as they should. They are down there with Syracuse at the bottom of the ACC standings, but are a better team than their record shows. They lost a heartbreaker to Miami, literally in the last second, the latest goal I've ever seen. And this afternoon they were outplaying NC much of the game, and were ahead with two minutes to go, but lost in overtime. If NC had lost they might have been out of the tournament.
