I understand your skepticism and generally concur, but here's the thing:


there is a direct correlation between praise/recognition and being drafted.

I do not worry about Brennan needing motivation to improve - he's plenty astute and aware and his ability to self-motivate is top shelf. And I'm not overly worried about his going pro after this year (there's nothing I could do about it anyway), but I think these biases help us keep him around another year. If he were more in the spotlight/limelight (as he deserves), I think the chances of his leaving increase.

In this case, I think the silver-lining theory actually works.
