Amodio got tight and started going backwards on clues he didn't know instead of sitting out the buzzer on those. Then, the eventual winner hit the Daily Doubles (frustrating Virginians with a George Washington miss along the way). It wouldn't have mattered for Amodio, but he missed what I thought was a really easy FJ!, too. He needed that FJ! to be a tough one.
Both of his opponents were beating him enough on the buzzer today to keep things close, and he couldn't handle it. He had been smoking that buzzer like nobody else I've ever seen for seven weeks.
