… Alston made them trigger shy to put together any rules around NIL. So instead there are only some vague guiding principles.

Which means that some schools are going to push the boundaries to figure out what is permissible and wait to be told “No” rather than reigning themselves in. Other schools will be more conservative and wait to find out what’s okay.

I’m not great at predictions, but if I had to predict, I know which way I’d predict Tony and UVa will go.

Based on first principles, I would’ve guessed that allowing the use of the athletic facility for a NIL event was a no-no, but apparently IU doesn’t think so.

My view on all this? Cut out this farcical middle men and just pay the kids. IU is the one making bank off these kids, so they should be the payor.
