24/7 Free ACC RSN TV affiliate channel streams for anybody anywhere (links)

Think of this as part "teach to fish" and part "give a fish." If you la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la, don't care, don't care, don't care, don't care, and just want a fish, skip down to the JUST GIMME A FISH, DAMMIT section a little more than 2/3 the way down this post.

Watching ACC RSN TV games is even more of a challenge than before after Fox Sports sold it's Regional Sports Networks to the Sinclair Broadcast Group such that they're now known as Bally Sports Regional Networks. To say that Bally Sports lacks
attention to detail would be an understatement.

For example, our last RSN TV football games was our W&M game, and for some unknown reason, ESPN chose the Bally Sports Arizona feed for the live ESPN3 stream (yes, ESPN3, not ACCNX; it's complicated) and Bally Sports Arizona started off by showing Diamondbacks programming instead for the first several minutes of our game. What's more, they used the same stream it for their replay stream, too.

Furthermore, as usual, the ESPN3 live stream was blacked out wherever the game was available on a local ACC RSN TV affilliate, but then so was the replay. You could get around this, of course, by using the VPN trick to place-shift your public IP address somewhere outside the blacked out regions, but WTF??? A blacked out replay???

Well, this apparently wasn't a one-off, because the same thing happened for our men's soccer game vs. Boston College last Friday. Coverage finally started during the 16th minute of the 1st half, so almost 30 game clock minutes into the game, and sure enough, they used the same feed for the ACCNX replay stream (yes, ACCNX, not ESPN3; it's complicated), AND the replay stream is ALSO blacked out. Genius!

But there are ways around this almost certain confluence of ESPN & Bally Sports incompetence.

There's nothing that can be done for you if you insist on watching using your TV service and your only local ACC RSN TV affiliate is a Bally Sports RSN. But if you want to be sure you can actually watch our game, you should make sure you have fall back options.

This is why god invented Hoo TV.

Our home football game this Saturday at 12:30 PM ET vs. Duke is being carried on local ACC RSN TV affiliates.

See "2021 Football RSN Affiliates: Duke at Virginia" at:

https://theacc.com/sports/2021/10/7/FB_RSN_DU_UVA_21.aspx

It's also available as a WatchESPN live ESPN3 (yes, ESPN3, not ACCNX; it's complicated) stream at:

https://www.espn.com/watch/player/_/id/1b423273-652a-40bc-8764-ba3bccfbca03

However, it's subject to blackout wherever available on a local ACC RSN TV affiliate as listed at the link given above. Blackouts can be gotten around though. See "How to Get Around WatchESPN Regional Blackouts" at:

http://tiny.cc/watchespn_blackouts

Given all that, the following may be far simpler.

NESN

NESN is carrying our game. So is the YES Network (covered below).

For future reference, every ACC RSN TV game is carried on either NESN or NESN+, and often also on the YES Network, all of which also have rock solid HD Live streams.

The NESN schedule confirms that it's carrying our game vs. Duke LIVE. You gotta be careful, because TheACC.com has been known to lie:

See https://nesn.com/tv-schedule/

The following is the link to the YourSports.to NESN stream player web page:

http://yoursports.to/live?v=nesn

Follow the instructions per the example picture below to avoid YourSports website sketchiness.

The clickable link below is the dynamic quality underlying HLS (m3u8) stream URL for the above, i.e.,

https://bcovlive-a.akamaihd.net/bea11a7dfef34b08be06aaca4a72bcdf/us-east-1/6141518204001/playlist.m3u8

Note that this hasn't changed in like forever.

It should also be viewable by anyone, anywhere in the world, since it's the stream URL they serve up to you AFTER you've negotiated access.

It's the DYNAMIC quality stream URL, so what you get served will adapt depending on your viewing platform, e.g., display resolution and your internet bandwidth, from a max of 1920x1080p at 29.97 FPS and ~ 7400 kbps to a min of 640x360p at 29.97 FPS and ~1200 kbps, so you'll need at least 1200 kbps Internet bandwidth for it to play smoothly.

Note that you may need to copy and paste the URL into your browser's address bar, i.e., instead of simply clicking on it.

If it plays for you, it means you're using a browser that's capable of native HLS playback (some operating systems have it built-in, e.g., MacOS, iOS; HLS was developed by Apple) and you're home free.

If not, see "How to View and/or Record HLS URLs" at:

http://tiny.cc/how_to_hls

Heck, check it out anyway if you want ways to play (and even record) HLS (m3u8) and MPEG-Dash (mpd) streams in ways other than just in a browser, e.g., via media players like VLC and PotPlayer or even media streams like a Roku player.

HLS (m3u8) dominates now, but MPEG-DASH (MPD) is coming. That's both good and bad. It's good because it's non-proprietary, with international standards. But it's also bad in the sense that MPEG-DASH has much more robust and hardened DRM (Digital Rights Management) that makes access permission much more difficult to crack. Even the pirates have started using it, making it much more difficult to even pirate from the pirates.

Note that recently, ESPN literally overnight (9/30-10/1) switched all their linear TV channel streams to the MPEG-DASH streaming protocol (ESPN+ always has been).

Hint: The simplest solution is to install the "Native MPEG-Dash + HLS Playback" add-on/extension that's available for both Chrome and Firefox. For details, see see http://tiny.cc/how_to_hls

Alternatively, in 3 easy, no muss, no fuss steps:

1. Copy the underlying NESN HLS stream URL given above (and linked below)

2. Paste the URL into the “Input stream URL” entry box of the web-based Akamai HLS (hls.js) / MPEG-Dash (dash.js) Player

at:

http://players.akamai.com/hls/

3. With “hls.js” selected, click "Play stream"

4. Profit

JUST GIMME A FISH, DAMMIT

Okay, 10 dollar each.

Everything you want.

Here it is as a URL with all the above already done for you, such that all you need to do when you get there is click "Play stream":

http://players.akamai.com/players/hlsjs?streamUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fbcovlive-a.akamaihd.net%2Fbea11a7dfef34b08be06aaca4a72bcdf%2Fus-east-1%2F6141518204001%2Fplaylist.m3u8

You can find all these URLs in the "ACC RSN Affiliates" section of the "Hoo TV Value-added Subscriber Recommended Streams" document at:

http://tiny.cc/sub_rec_streams

The YourSports.stream and Sports24.stream sites recently bit the dust (some time during the first week of October). YourSports.stream is in the process of being resurrected as YourSports.to and Yrsprts.io, but it's currently still missing a lot of channels available in it's previous incarnation, e.g., the ESPN family of channels is incomplete. The 24/7 Yoursports.to player web pages for NESN, NESN+, and YES Network all are working.

There's still no word on a replacement site for Sports24.stream.

The document also provides (5) FIXED quality NESN & NESN+ HLS stream URLs (1080p through 360p), e.g., as opposed to the DYNAMIC quality NESN HLS stream URL given above.

YES Network

The YES Network schedule confirms that it's carrying our game vs. Duke LIVE. You gotta be careful, because TheACC.com has been known to lie:

https://www.yesnetwork.com/info/schedule

HERE'S ANOTHER FISH

USTVGO.tv provides a free, legal, robust YES Network 640x360 stream:

https://ustvgo.tv/yes-network/

For more info on USTVGO, see http://tiny.cc/ustvgo

The following is the link to the YourSports.to YES Network stream player web page:

http://yoursports.to/live?v=fxpla?y=fsyes

Follow the instructions per the example picture below to avoid any YourSports website sketchiness.

The DYNAMIC quality YES Network online Live stream URL is:

http://yrsprts.io/hls/yes.m3u8

It doesn't play in the any of the Akamai web page players, but the fixed quality streams do. Those are provided in the "Hoo TV Valued Added Subscriber Recommended Streams" document linked above. There are (8) FIXED quality YES Network HLS stream URLs (720p @6000 kbps through 180p @ 147 kbps).

Here's the highest fixed quality YES Network HLS stream URL:

https://cdn.yesn-live.net/v1/manifest/1a954fea9a9e371ab24e8226b756520725bb3f2d/YESN-LIVE-001/1492b61a-657c-461d-872b-fedb21db00e1/0.m3u8

Note that this URL is one that DOES expire eventually, so poke me if it doesn't seem to be working and I'll check to see if it a new one is needed.

HERE'S YET ANOTHER FISH

And here it is as a an Akamai HLS test player link filled in for you and all you need to do is click "Play stream":

http://players.akamai.com/players/hlsjs?streamUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fcdn.yesn-live.net%2Fv1%2Fmanifest%2F1a954fea9a9e371ab24e8226b756520725bb3f2d%2FYESN-LIVE-001%2F1492b61a-657c-461d-872b-fedb21db00e1%2F0.m3u8

It also should be viewable by anyone, anywhere in the world.

MORE FISH THAT ONLY SOME CAN CONSUME

Viewing Live streams at the NESN, YES Network Websites

For these, you'll need to have a qualifying TV service and by some hook or crook a U.S. IP address.

If your TV service includes NESN, even if it's just the NESN National channel, and you need to stream the game you can also view the NESN (non-National) and NESN+ live streams at NESNgo:

https://nesngo.nesn.com/

Note that it'll start by playing an ad, like a Bruins ad, before it starts playing their actual live stream.

Similarly, if your TV service includes YES Network and you need to stream the game, you can just view the YES Network live stream at the YES Network website:

https://www.yesnetwork.com/

But for either of these to work, you'll probably need to have a U.S. IP address, using a VPN to achieve that if necessary.

Finally, if a Bally Sports RSN is your local ACC RSN TV affliliate and you need to stream the game, your local ACC RSN TV affiliate may also offer a live stream. TheACC.com's list of ACC RSN TV affilliates given above also includes links to the affiliates' websites, but some/most of them may be broken. Just go to https://www.ballysports.com/ and use the "Regions" tab to navigate to the website for yours. I don't have access to BallySports RSN live streams, so I can't vouch for any of this.

MASN doesn't have any streams.
