My investigation seems to be leaning this way...also argues for replacing

the engine-- the price of repairs isn't so high right now....and it is the "devil we know'.

If what would normally be a $15k car is selling for $18k right now--- a $3k premium-- avoiding paying that premium might be worth the cost of repair incremental to what the dealer will spend to fix close. So, if I could trade in my car now for $10k, or spend the $7500 and have a $15k trade in value--- I lose $2500......but, by keeping that car past the bubble, save that $3000 price premium. All depends on trade in value perhaps--- am trying to get an estimate of that now
