When you run a prevent defense the entire game it isn’t designed

to limit your opponent’s yardage. I thought our front 3 played well and I would prefer to see them supported by 4 LBs rather than 3. It just isn’t enough firepower up front. Ask UNC or Wake.

We controlled Cunnngham and his runs can break the back of a D so that was a critical key. We could afford to give him more time in the pocket because he can’t easily get through his progressions or make pinpoint throws (unlike Sam Howell at UNC).

It will be interesting to see how we approach Duke because the 3-3-5 isn’t a defensive alignment designed to stop the run or pressure the QB. I hope we find a way to get more LBs on the field. There is a reason most teams run a 4-3 or 3-4 alignment up front especially on first and second down.
