When I was traveling a lot, I would make my wife lasagna and other things in small, reheatable portions and freeze them for her. Chili makes such an easy thing to freeze. Separate it into single (or double if you'll always feed 2) portion sizes and freeze. Canned chili might be one of the worst things you can buy - so much salt, such bad quality, typically.

Or even go to your nice local grocery store that does good chili in the soup size pints/quarts, and freeze a few of those. The chili at my nicer grocery store is pretty good (and fresh made, not canned!).
