--as has been stated several times on the board already, it was a scrimmage and we should avoid drawing too many conclusions without the corroborating evidence that the first 5 or 6 games will provide (this warning, of course, does not apply to my observations).
--Gardner is who we thought he was: he's a beast, knows how to play around the basket and effectively use his body against a bigger opponent. At one point, he drove into the lane and crashed into Kadin. Kadin went flying (and an offensive foul was called). The thud and force of the collision nearly took the air out of JPJ.
--Stattmann's game is so understated that I think most of us don't realize the skillset and savvy he brings to the floor. IMO, he's going to be a huge asset to the team and will have an impact that goes unnoticed until one looks at the box score and realizes that he just scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. He's filled out and gotten taller and can guard multiple positions on the floor.
--Franklin appears fundamentally sound on both ends of the floor. He is skilled and plays within himself. Sweet shot and good at getting to the basket in the open floor. Plays with a confidence that will greatly assist this team.
--IMO, Kihei did not appear to be pushing it or overly assertive. This does not bother me nor should any conclusions be drawn from his scrimmage play.
--Murray and Igor both showed flashes that are quite promising. IMO, it's just a matter of time becoming comfortable within the system and getting adjusted to the American style of play before they contribute. I'm very optimistic about their futures at UVa.
--We are all really going to enjoy watching Beekman play when he has the ball in his hands.
--Kadin's hook shoot is super sweet. He's going to score a lot of points with that silky shot.
