You can't beat the best if you don't compete with them.


Men are learning to race against the best athletes - not just at NCAAs but mano-a-mano. They will be less intimidated at NCAAs and at International qualifying meets.

I was in attendance in California. The team had a terrific time. They were interacting with Cal's swimmers informally. The Saturday morning unconventional meet (Skins, Mixed Relays, broken 300 Free & IM) also provides levity and develops comradery with competition. These oddball events also provide an opportunity to even the playing field a bit (see the Georgetown meet), where the opportunity to race off events mixes things up and somewhat evens things up. D-Men having to swim 50 Breast provides entertainment.

I hope that Cal comes to Charlottesville next year. When they graduate a few more Men and we get some additional recruits....watch out!
