Was there in September '19

The entire trip was incredible. Cape Town was a very cool city. I highly recommend dinner at Belly of the Beast - if you're an adventurous diner. It's a snout to tail butchery, they have one seating per night, and you eat what they're serving. When we went it was about 7 courses, and with wine pairings, it came to about $150 for the two of us. Fantastic meal. For a somewhat tamer palette, a more theatrical dinner experience, and a much larger check, hit up La Colombe just outside of town (about a 20 minute Uber). Every course was indulgent and eye-popping.

We spent a day driving Chapman's Peak (outrageous scenery) to Simonstown (cool little town), Boulder Beach penguin colony, and the cape itself. Long day, but very enjoyable. We also had a driver take us to Franschoek and Stellenbosch. That could have been a few days if we had the time.

We also drove the Garden Route to Port Elizabeth and flew to Kruger from there. If you can swing it, there's a place called Morukuru Beach Lodge in DeHoop Nature Reserve (a few hours from Cape Town). It's a beautiful 5-room, completely off the grid resort where you are treated like royalty. We only stayed there because it was a good stopping point on our route, but if we ever go back we will make a point of staying 2-3 nights there.

Happy to share more info if you'd like (although I'll be out of town and likely slow to respond for the next few days). scott (at) medvetz (dot) com. You're also welcome to check out a small sample of the pics I took, linked below.
