Scores at Invites are useless

It is nothing like a championship meet.

Championship meets only allow 18 athletes (more if using divers), invites usually have no cap. Also the depth at invites are usually very low compared to championship meets. Tennessee has 45 women on their roster, UVA only brought like 20 women swimmers to the meet. A team like Tennessee can stack swimmers into scoring position just by sheer numbers even though at a regular championship some of them couldn't compete due to roster cap or their times would not be scoring level times. For example, in the 400 IM, Tennessee actually outscored the UVA women even though UVA swept the top 3 spots. UVA's swimmers would have all scored points at NCAAs last year in the A final with their times (45+ points) while only 1 swimmer from Tennessee would have scored (10 points) at NCAAs last year. This is why invite scoring is useless.

This gives a good summary of the meet:
The "Pts" column is the average power ranking of all the swims. A swim of "1000" is a world record swim, so the closer to 1000, the better the swim. UVA women had the highest value here and this matters more than score.

All that matters in invites are times and the women put up pretty good times overall. Some misses but its November so its not a big deal. Relays are all faster than last year, even without Gretchen.

For the men, same thing. They are not swimming fully rested and shaved like Bama and Tennessee are but they still put up respectable times. Relays were basically the same as last year.

Overall, for the women I would give the meet a B+ and the men a B/B-.
