No turkey at our house. I’m cooking Cornish game hens instead….
Five people (the two of us, my mom, our next-door neighbor, and her father), so five Cornish game hens means individual birds for everyone, plus no need for me to carve a large bird, plus shorter roasting time. Might be a little weird drinking white wine on Thanksgiving this year (because it will go better with the marinade/glaze for the birds), but we'll get over that easily enough. This is the second time I’ve done Cornish hens. First tried it two years ago; that time, I did them on wood planks on the grill (and a flare-up burned off most of the hair on my left hand). It was successful, but I wanted to do a different preparation this time.
The guy two houses down the block has had his smoker lit since early this morning. Smells good out there.
