I could be wrong, but my recollection

Is that Somdev rose to the 40s before going downhill.

Also, you might have qualified your post to refer to former MEN's tennis players. Danielle Collins, of course, won 2 NCAA Individual championships as a Hoo player, and has reached #8 in the WTA, in spite of significant health issues.
