Thoughts from our experience

my eldest has been at it for abt 5 years now. Prior to age 12, he played soccer and basketball. He started tennis so late and liked it so much, that he decided to focus on it year round and gave up the other sports. Since then, we've gotten to know other players and families and I can't think of an example of a kid who is a D1 tennis prospect playing another sport. The sport is so competitive at this level that I sense the kids are afraid they'll lose ground if they take a few months off or split time between two sports. I've personally played a lot of sports and played D1 football on a full ride and I can say unequivocally that I've never seen a sport where kids work harder year round- it's crazy.
