They probably earned it... the fall. It certainly was a challenge to them, plus hitting 6-9. That put a lot of pressure on 1-5. I felt like it was just not much of a hitting order where you want some balance in the stacking of the hitters 1-9, more than just R-L-R-L etc. Maybe not having the veteran Coman for the 6-hole (and McCarthy) put too much pressure on firstyears as starters? Regardless, it's been amazing to see how well the staff gets production out of firstyears generally and how well they develop the talent while not giving up on it, in the cases of Novak, Cody, Bettinger, Shambor. The shift of Novak to the 2 and Haseley to the 6 has been productive, with Cody at 7.
