To me these are not growing pains related to this year.

There is plenty of talent on this team. The problem is the newness of the System. This System will be just as new to the incoming recruits unless they come from a high school that plays the System with the same intensity.
From my perspective, I hate losing with a passion but I am much happier with this week's loss than with last week's win. I am seeing something in the System's design that I was too ignorant to see prior. Although the turnovers in the last 6 minutes were painfully frustrating, there are signs that the turnovers and sloppy play are, in a very real sense, self correcting. I am confident that this will occur because with the heart and competitiveness that this team has displayed, I am certain that they recognize what cost them a major win last night and will exercise a little more self-restraint engendered by an increased situational awareness in the future. Exercise a little more care with a lead. Still run and gun up-tempo but with, again, more situational awareness. That self-correcting will be a 1 time occurrence and not yearly as long as the team has strong leaders that convey that ethos to the incoming players.
Like everyone else on this board, I too was screaming for timeouts down the stretch and it OT. But maybe Coach Tiffany did not want to eliminate that intense pressure. Maybe he wanted the players to "play" through it and either earn the victory or, in losing, gain an appreciation for the cost of mistakes so that they learn to "choke up on the bat a little when there are two strikes" and play a "little" more deliberately.
