A couple things are different this year versus last year...

VPI pole vault scored 38 points (taking 1st through 7th place) but they graduated the top vaulter and had only 4 scorers at the indoor meet. UVA put 2 into the top 8 at the indoor. VPI graduated a total of 42 points from last year's outdoor team and UVA graduated 12 points. Lastly, UVA will score quite well in the multi-event with likely 3 placing, their throwers have hit NCAA qualifying marks in shot put, discus, and hammer, and UVA has a 1st year jumper that will likely score at the top of the triple jump.

I really like UVA's chances this year to not only best VPI but make a push for 1st. I failed to mention that the UVA women beat the VPI women at last year's outdoor meet but I just don't see enough depth in the team to repeat that feat.
