At that age there should be a lot more time spent on individual touch

training then 3v1 or 5v5. If you have a 90 min session at least 60 of it should be touch work. Coerver or any of the vidoes on getting 500 or 1000 touches a session is a good way to start. There's a 100 ways to make those drills fun.

Start with the first video for the first couple of weeks then once they master those add in the second video.

What you'll see in about 6 weeks are players that are very comfortable on the ball. When they get into those 2v1 or 3v1's you'll see them want to take players on. That's what you want to encourage. Later in the season when their touch is at a high level spend more time on passing/moving and reading the game. It will make your life a whole lot easier to start with touch then move to team player then the other way around. Plus you'll see a major jump in skill level especially if they've never had that type of training.

Yes it will be ugly to start and you'll have players getting frustrated. Stay 100% positive no matter what. Always smile and have fun. It's an awesome age to coach.
