Variation: my top 10 albums trying to learn to play electric guitar

These were the ones that hit me upside the head when I was trying to learn to play electric guitar. Half are live albums.

-Are You Experienced? - Jimi
- Moby Grape (the best musicians by far of any of the 60s San Francisco bands - an album that is in every version of a top 10 list of mine)
- John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers featuring Eric -
Clapton (I played 'Stepping Out' and 'All Your Loving' at every high school jam I ever went to)
- Wheels of Fire - Cream (I think the solos on 'Crossroads' are the absolute best thing Eric Clapton ever played)
- Live Dead
- Europe '72
- Live at Leeds - the Who (the set I saw them play at the Mosque in Richmond)
- Allmans Live at the Fillmore East (the stuff I saw them play 6 months earlier at the Virginia Beach Dome)
- The Inner Mounting Flame - Mahvishnu Orchestra
- Led Zeppelin 1

Most high honorable mention:
- Hot Rats (Zappa)
- Chicago Transit Authority
- Bitches Brew
- early Steely Dan
- Electric Music for the Mind and Body - Country Joe and the Fish (go ahead and laugh, it IS goofy, but the lightbulb turned on for me for being able to improvise in the pentatonic scale figuring out the guitar in the antiwar/LBJ rant of 'Superbird')

Artists I wish I'd been smart enough to listen to when I was trying to learn to play electric guitar:
- Charlie Christian
- Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West - holy shit!
- early Wes Montgomery
- Albert, BB, and Freddie King
- Howlin' Wolf
- Muddy Waters
- Bob Wills
