I get that a few people get highly sensitive to the "politicalization" ...

of sports ... but in the big picture, does it really matter?

Athletes use their platform for a variety of social / political issues. From Muhammed Ali, Joe Louis, Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, Billy Jean King, Rick Monday, JJ Watt, Colin Kaepernick, UVA basketball, UTEP, basketball, etc. Heck, we used the Olympics as a political vehicle for decades. Now it's gone and the ratings are down dramatically. Drama / polarization sells.

I think it's far more than just politics. Honestly, once the game starts, I don't care if it's Riley Cooper catching passes, Joe Mixon running the ball, Colin Kaepernick throwing the ball, Woody Johnson owning the team, or JJ Watt / Michael Bennett sacking a QB.
