If injury related it is very different story

Playing college athletics is a grind, even without injury. Maintaining the discipline to show up to practice, weights, meetings, film and game travel is already difficult enough...when you add in treatment and long hours of watching from the sideline in practice and during games it becomes even more challenging. The kids who are willing to accept their playing days are over, but still love the game/team enough to be there everyday to be a part of the program are very few...and most often, although not always, the former stars. Having a semester or two at UVA, free from the athletic grind, is a beautiful thing...
