Promotion and relegation in MLS is about a century away

We cannot even get good enough stadium deals for each team in MLS to have a chance to be sound financially. Look at the dumpster fire that is the D.C. government and the D.C. United situation for one example.

So, some USL team with a stadium that seats 2000 is going to get promoted to MLS? Right.

A city government is going to stick its neck out to provide a soccer stadium without being sure that the team will be there next year? Nope.

Maybe when soccer is as popular here as it is in European and South American countries, we will have good soccer stadia in about three divisions and can do promotion and relegation.

And until we get EVERY team in MLS on sound financial footing, we can forget proposals about replacing college soccer with an MLS-2 division. Where do people think all this money is coming from?
