It was a tough call. I read somewhere that Roark hadn't pitched for 14 days


If that is correct, Dusty might have thought that Roark would be rusty (& not just well-rested), which happens fairly often when pitchers return after a fairly long absence (almost 3 turns in this case).

I haven't followed baseball much these past few years. (I'm a Braves fan, so need I say more.) I like the Nats because of Zimm & Doolittle, so I was rooting hard for them.

I didn't see the game last night, so your post about the Nats' bad breaks (not to mention the umps' obvious mistake) makes me think that some things just aren't meant to be. The Nats' loss reminds me of some of the most painful losses suffered by the Braves in the post-season in the 90s, so my smpathies to the Nats' fans.
