I wouldn’t be quite so down. There are some positives.

It's too bad, but it's not as if any of our guys were favorites. I don't see any reason to be negative about it.

Ritschard hasn't played a competitive match in months. It's difficult enough getting back in the flow of competition. He won 2 matches. Then had a couple of set points in the 1st set before losing it 7-6 and the match in 3. His opponent just beat Norrie to reach the Qtrs. Norrie has been rolling this fall and is almost up to the top 100. Cleary, he barelylost to a guy (Roelofse) playing well. Hard to make a judgment until Ritschard gets up to speed. Remember, even Federer lost on grass in the first round earlier this year after taking a couple of months off during the clay court season.

Thai went toe to toe with a high quality player. Kozlov won his last event, the Vegas Challenger two weeks ago, and he's ranked #135. That was a very winnable match for Thai. If he keeps knocking on the door against players of that level, he will eventually break it open.

There's no shame in losing either of those two matches. IMO, our guys proved they can play with just about anyone. It's now a matter of getting over the hump.

Shane needed a WC to get into the event. Schnur is now up to about #200. Schnur has beaten Shane before on our courts, including the National Indoor Finals. It's not as if playing at home made Shane a clear favorite.

Yes, it would have been nice for one of our guys to make it out of the 1st round. But, I wouldn't be too down that no one upset their opponent.
