I have been hoping the verbal "commitment" scam would die for a long time

the old fashioned, coaches (price fixing scheme) , u hI mean, "agreement" to honor eachother's verbal commitments was good for the coaches, bad for the kids. I hated it then, and I relish the idea of kids maximizing their college options.

How can a 14 year old kid pick a college? - pretending they could make decent choices was goofy.

The coach always had the option to recruit over a kid and "run out of scholarship dollars" if a kid didn't pan out. The kid is stuck. His academics could change, his intended major could change. Heck he might even get hair on his legs.....
