I was told a few years ago that WF has an academic program for athletes,

who need help beyond so called traditional tutoring. It also involved an easing of admission standards for certain athletes I was told this 3rd hand and that it was developed to help FB and Basketball primarily. but I do not know the details. Having lived in GSO for almost 40 years, I have never heard of any WF athletes who flunked out or even were declared academically ineligible. I believe WF has a pretty high graduation rate for its athletes. One would think that if they were all doing their own work in the same tough classes that regular WF students take, many of them would struggle academically.
Supposedly Duke did a similar thing a few years back after they got tired of a losing FB team. That is about the time Duke and NC Central formed an academic consortium allowing its students to take some classes (On line and regular) at NCCU and to transfer grades and credit hours to Duke. Of course only requiring about 100 credit hours (supposedly less in a few majors) hours to graduate from Duke also helps its athletes.
