Pretty sure whatever is left of the car would be completely burned up on re

reentry. There won't be much left in a couple of years as cosmic radiation will destroy anything that is not metal and will even effect some of the metal parts.

Other test rockets carry ballast usually in the form of some kind of concrete blocks, so a car floating in space can't be any worse.

The two HUGE innovation / confirmations were multiple reusable rocket boosters and a private company that has show capability to send a payload out of low earth orbit. If you have reusable boosters, that cuts the cost dramatically to get objection into orbit. If you have private companies that can deliver payloads beyond low earth orbit (and do it must more cheaply and quickly because they can reuse the rockets) you can get a lot more stuff to the Moon or Mars if you want to try to develop some kind of base / location that humans could visit.

The fact that they didn't recover one of the three boosters (when no one else every recovers any of the boosters) hardly seems an indictment against the test. They demonstrated basically everything they wanted to. It was a significant, important success step if you want to reasonably think about manned space missions that leave low earth orbit anytime soon.
