Thoughts
Was thrilled to see the Hoos in person. Living in Tampa, I definitively wanted to take advantage of them being this close. I think our early defensive lapses cost us (2 errors followed by two 2-Run HR’s and a play In the first that I thought Novak should have made that resulted in a run), but I thought we stiffened on D as the game progressed. Lynch wasn’t great, but it’s one game and he certainly has good stuff. Bottom line, UCF’s pitcher got stronger and more comfortable as the game progressed. My thought was that he was a batter or two from being pulled in the 4th or 5th, but made it through and then amped it up after that. His velocity actually seemed to go up a gear after inning 5. Look, baseball’s baseball...never get too high and never get too low. There’s always a quick turnaround to look forward to. On to Samford.
