Notes: Before suffering a devastating knee injury in the fourth game of his junior season, George Bell was considered perhaps the top running back prospect in the state of North Carolina. Bell is a physical specimen who benches 365 pounds, squats 420 pounds, and is capable of running a 4.4 in the 40 when healthy. Rushed for 600 yards and seven touchdowns in three full games as a junior.

Bell, generally regarded as one of the top players in the country, was named to USA Today's preseason Super 25 (nationally) as a senior and was selected by Tom Lemming to play in the postseason Army All-Star game. Bell played for the East and led them in rushing with 6 carries for 48 yards.

Coach Richard Bailey: "George is the best athlete I've ever coached. I call him a genetic freak. He has about seven percent body fat, and is built like a bodybuilder. He possesses a great combination of size and speed, and he likes to run over defenders. If he can get to 100% by the time the season starts, he will play. If not, I will hold him out - he won't play again for me unless he's 100%."
